Ghana. Camp 12. Banana Ghana.
Banana Ghana - A traditional Ghanaian recipe- and something from Brazil !
The Camp 12 loves the food and prepares meals from Spain, Tunisia, Italy, Brazil, Slovenia, Russia and Greece- we eat so much and so good every day!! Ilaria from Italy found out a unique recipe from Ghana and she decided to try it out (without alcohol!). It worked pretty well!
Here is the recipe :
Cut 8 medium BANANAS in half lengthwise and then crosswise.
Blend: 1/4 cup SUGAR and 1 teaspoons CINNAMON
Dip the bananas in this mixture until coated.
Place the four quarters cut side down, side by side, in a 9-inch round or square ovenproof dish.
Blend 1 cup orange juice along with. 3 Tbs. Apricot Brandy
Pour the orange juice-brandy mixture on the bananas
Put in the oven for 20 minutes at approximately 200 C
Served with coconut flakes (optional)
(Don’t judge a book by its cover ;) )
Delicious!
It turned out to be one of our favourite desserts for the entire camp duration (we prepared it more than once!) along with the Brazilian Brigadeiro (recipe below!) from Deisiane :
Ingredients:
2 soup spoon of 70% cacao
1 soup spoon of chocolate
1 can of condensed milk (about 400g)
A tea spoon of butter
Granulate
How to make it ?
Put the butter in a pan at the low fire until it becames liquid.
Add the condensed milk
Mix it. Add the cacao and powdery chocolate
Mix it carefully for 15 min. Turn off the fire.
Put the chocolate on the plate and start to make balls - when it is not so hot anymore (if you think it's difficult put some butter on your hand to help)
Cover the balls with granulate….. WOW!!
